What is an LLC?

An LLC (Limited Liability Company) is a company created to protect you from personal liability.

How does an LLC protect me?

LLCs are often created by people who own investment property, or are doing any form of business because the possibility of lawsuits is high.

For example, if you own a rental property a tenant may sue you for not properly maintaining the property.  Likewise, if you own a business, you could face lawsuits from employees, other companies, or customers.

The way to protect yourself and your family from these lawsuits, is by creating an LLC.  An LLC acts as a shield against these lawsuits so that your personal assets are not affected by the lawsuit.

In addition to protecting you from personal liability, LLCs have several other advantages:

  • Your personal information remains private and it is harder for people to locate you

  • You present yourself in a more professional manner by using a business name

  • You separate out your business assets and personal assets

Our office can assist setting up an LLC for you. Giving you peace of mind knowing that any lawsuit cannot affect you or your family personally.
